Home internet in Nova Scotia: Starlink, Purple Cow or Bell?
Prices are in CAD, before tax, for new residential customers. Re-checked monthly; 2026-10-19 is the last check. What you can actually get depends on your exact civic address. Every provider below has an address checker. Use it first.
Order Starlink through our referral link and you'll get CA$140 once you've been subscribed for two months, as cash or service credit. We get the same reward for referring you. (See Starlink's referral terms.)
Eligible referrals only. Starlink sets the amount and can change it.
Hardware may be rented; any activation fee and terms are shown at checkout. Canada's Starlink Terms (DOC-1022-91014-56) allow a rental kit with an activation fee, and the kit is returned if you cancel.

Short answer
- If Purple Cow or Bell can wire your address (fibre or cable), take the wire. It's usually cheaper, faster, with better upload, and not affected by trees or snow on a dish.
- If you only have slow DSL, an obstructed fixed-wireless signal, or nothing, Starlink is usually the better choice, and Nova Scotia may cover up to $1,000 of the setup cost (see NS satellite rebate below).
- If you move between a home and a cottage, RV or boat, Starlink Roam is the only option here that travels with you.

When the other option is better
- Purple Cow is better when it reaches your address. Its $60 entry price is lower than Starlink's lowest residential plan, the price is locked [U], and there's no dish to keep clear of snow. Purple Fibre's upload (2 Gbps) is far beyond any satellite plan.
- Bell is better when Fibe reaches your address and you want the most upload for video calls or backups, or when your yard is heavily treed and a dish can't see the northern sky. Watch the 12-month promo: the price goes up after year one.
- Bell Wireless Home Internet at $50 is the cheapest option on this page if you have a clear line to a tower and 25 Mbps is enough. It slows after 600 GB a month.
- Starlink is better when nothing wired reaches you, when fixed wireless is weak at your address, or when you need internet that moves. It needs a clear view of the sky, and a rented kit has to be returned if you cancel.
NS satellite rebate
Build Nova Scotia's Satellite Internet Service Rebate covers one-time setup costs (hardware, taxes, shipping, installation) up to $1,000 for eligible homes and businesses that can't get wired or fixed-wireless high-speed. Monthly fees aren't covered. Check your address at internet.buildns.ca/satellite. [V 2026-10-19]
Build NS warns that fake sellers pose as Starlink and that Starlink has no Canadian phone number for orders. Buy only from starlink.com or a verified retailer.
The provincial rebate is a cheque later, not a discount at checkout. Address check, receipts, and an optional local install request: Starlink setup and rebate help.
